Midnight’s Promise Estate is a working vineyard in the foothills of Mount Molly Morgan in beautiful Lovedale. The area is steeped in history dating back to the early days of NSW when it was a penal colony. Molly Morgan was a famous (perhaps, infamous) convict who was twice transported before settling on a land grant outside Maitland which had flourished following the discovery of coal on the Hunter River (then known as the Coal River). There Molly ran a hostelry (called the Angel Inn) for weary travellers. Her last years were spent near Anvil Creek. The Angel Inn has long gone but Anvil Creek still flows through the nearby township of Greta.

The first grapevines were planted around this time with the result that the Hunter Valley became the historic home of the Australian wine industry.

In 1998 the Estate was planted to the traditional Hunter varieties of Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz. The wines have earned praise from wine show judges and wine writers.

Today, the Hunter Valley is one of the major tourist destinations in the State.

So many attractions – wineries, restaurants, cafes, cheese tasting, craft beer tasting, horse riding, hot air ballooning, helicopter flights, galleries and boutique shopping – are just minutes away – and so too is the Lovedale exit off the Hunter Expressway.
